1. What is StatsAPEC?

StatsAPEC is the only consolidated source of APEC-specific data.

Developed by the APEC Policy Support Unit (PSU), it provides access to the latest economic, social, environmental, and policy-related information. The platform brings together data from multiple reputable sources into a single integrated system, enabling users to explore by economy or indicator. Download data as a ready-to-use Excel workbook or visualize trends through interactive charts.

2. What information is available in StatsAPEC?

StatsAPEC provides annual data from 1989 onwards for all APEC member economies, including APEC and World aggregates.

This information is available in the Key Indicators Database and the Bilateral Linkages Database. The former includes more than 120 economic, social, environmental, and policy-related indicators that facilitate the analysis of trends in the Asia-Pacific, whereas the latter contains indicators on bilateral trade and capital flows that describe linkages between APEC economies.

3. How often is StatsAPEC updated, and what are its data sources?

The PSU updates StatsAPEC every June and December. Data is collected from reputable sources, such as the International Monetary Fund, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the World Bank, the World Trade Organization, and the United Nations.

4. How are APEC aggregates calculated?

The PSU calculates APEC aggregates as sums, simple averages, weighted averages, or ratios. Aggregates are included only when data is available for at least two-thirds of member economies. In the case of weighted averages, aggregates are calculated only if available data also represents at least two-thirds of the value of weights in that year.

Where necessary, adjustments are made to ensure comparability. These adjustments can be found in the Glossary.
